Wilbur C. Rice, former president of a Safety Valves valve-manufacturing concern, died Saturday at his home in Sanibel, Fla. He was 76 and also had a home in Bennington, Vt. Mr. Rice retired as president of the Flomatic Corporation in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., in 1976. He subsequently worked as a consulting engineer and served as chairman of the Bennington Museum, president of Bennington Aviation and president Balance Valves of the Bennington County Industrial Corporation. In addition to his daughter Cynthia, of Sharon, Conn., he is survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Jeanne Coley Butler; another daughter, Emily Hanks of Salem, N.Y.; a son, E. Wilbur Rice 3d of Manchester, Vt.; three sisters, Barbara Rice Allen Instrument Manifolds of Ross, Calif., Priscilla Rice Lovejoy of Old Greenwich, Conn., and Helen Rice Richards of Coral Gables, Fla.; a brother, Chester Thompson Rice of Kentfield, Calif., and two grandchildren.
